Anybody have experience with the NEF Handi rifles, positive or negative? I had one years ago that was an ok shooter,I just got tired of the single shot and having to break it open and reset everything between shots. I just picked one up in 300 Blackout, mainly to use down the road for my new grandson to learn on and even use on deer when he's ready. I have some rounds loaded and ready to shoot for the first time tomorrow and get it broke in. Anyone ever attempt a trigger job on one? Looks like a real pain to get apart and back together,I've watched a couple videos. Found it a good price on Grab a Gun and couldn't resist.

I have several, probably did over50 trigger jobs on them when a full time gunsmith. Go to Greybeardsoutdoors.com, nice site, similar to this one, they have a complete forum dedicated to the Handi rifles, with all the info on getting the most accuracy out of them you could ever ask for, great bunch of folks over there, some from here. Pm me if I can be of more help.

I had one in a 223 varmint weight barrel once, and it shot pretty well. Seemed to really like the lighter bullets from what I can remember. The trigger was pretty heavy but I never got around to messing with it. I ended up selling it to a friend with a young son wanting to shoot.

Got to shoot it today and did really good. Definitely need some trigger work though. Can the extractors on these be converted to an ejector? Fired cases are hard to grab and pull out.

I have two - one in .243 and one in .45-70.

I don't play with either much but they are both minute-of-deer at 100 yds.

Won one at a club raffle-223 and 30-30. Gave them to my son as he needed a deer rifle.

I only have two now, a 22 Hornet and "Thumper", a 45-70. The grandsons have a ball shooting the 45 with a reduced load of Trail Boss and a 300. You hear the report and then a "slap" when the bullet hits the paper at 100 yards!:p I haven't shot the Hornet in years.

I've had two, but for what a handy goes for know you can have a bolt.
