I have found a Savage barrel I would like to try, but nothing is said as to which model action it fit's, are they all one in the same ?
Or I have a single shot Savage 110 in .223 Rem. that appears to be a long action, can I change the bolt face and the barrel and go with it? Or do I need a Savage action that is some what newer than my 20 year old plus action.

Yup just change barrel and bolt face to desired cartridge. All you need to make sure of is that the shank size is the same, but with you old action you certainly have a small shank.

Just measure your screws to find action length. Look in the Savage FAQ section for a pictorial of that.

If the screw distance is approximately 5.062", you have a long action. The spacing is standard for all long actions.

If I am reading your question right & you have a 110 in 223, no problem, just screw on new small shank barrel.

You may have to change the front baffle if the cartridge is longer which are easy to find.
