This is load development from a 29.5" 223 Wylde 1/7 twist barrel I received from Jim a few months ago. His barrels shoot.

capreppy,
You shoot any heavies through that yet? Just curious as with that twist it should be awesome.

Nice! Have you been shooting much lately? I spent the day at the range and after the WEEKS of rain, it was nice to have a nice blisteringly hot day to shoot.

capreppy,
You shoot any heavies through that yet? Just curious as with that twist it should be awesome. I've shot the 82gr Berger out of it and it did pretty well. I only have a box of 100 and haven't finished load development as yet, but it does look very promising. I'll probably pick up a couple of other boxes and finish load development. Problem is I also have a 300 WM coming from Jim here shortly. The barrel and the action have been sent to Dan @ Dark Eagle Custom to do his magic. I should get that back towards the end of the month or so.

I'm running the 75 Amax as well. Still trying to fine tune that load, but pretty much anything I shoot down the barrel has been exceptional.

Of note, this is a 1/7 and even the 50gr Z-Max is shooting well. This was and will continue to be my primary round as it is just plain cheap to shoot and shoots exceptionally well.

capreppy,
If I might suggest, the 55 VMax seems to shoot really well in about any 223. I shoot them through 3 different ones with terrific accuracy. Now they are not the heavy number that maybe you want. I was shooting the Nosler BT, 50 gr Vmax and a few others and the accuracy with the 55 was significantly better than the others. Seems like a number of people I chat with have the same experience with the 55. Plus they are cheap.;)
Not pushing but an idea for you.

Except I have 3k 50gr Z-Max sitting on the shelves :)

90% of my shooting is at 1 to 200 yards and the 50gr is plenty heavy for that distance. I use the 55gr for my AR w/ 26" 1/8 Varmint barrel. I only have 1k of those though. WHEN I shoot this rifle beyond 200, I'm primarily using the 75 Amax which I have quite a few thousand sitting on the shelves. I'm still looking at the 82gr Berger for 6 to 800, but I also run a 6.5 Creedmoor which is my primary rifle at those distances.

Was just a thought.

The Z-Maxs (when they were in stock) were cheaper than the V-Max in bulk (500 round boxes). I bought a crap ton because they were so cheap and they did well out of the rifle I was shooting them in (at the time Savage factory 26" 1/9 varmint profile). I am also using H322 which favors 50gr and lighter bullets. I found 16# for $150 a while back and am just about finished with the first 8#. PV has them in stock and plan to pick up another 8 or 16#.
