Ok....before tonight, i was measuring from primer to bullet tip for the COAL...i noticed the length varied, but not by much. I recently bought a Hornady Lock-N-Load Bullet Comparator. I was surprised to find it measures more accurately measuring off of the Ogive. So i guess here is my question:

i mounted the comparator onto the caliper. i zeroed the caliper. i used the Hornady OAL gauge and a 175 Berger VLD and measured, to the rifling was 2.249".

Berger recommends loading four bullets at 2.249" (bullet touching the rifling), four .040 off the lands, four .080 off the lands, the last four .120. so i did as they suggested.

However, when i chamber the 2.249" bullet, i pull the bullet out and re-measure it to 2. 245".

Federal brass trimmed to 2.00", 175 Berger VLD, 41.3grains RE-15, CCI 200 primers.

suggestions?

Sorry so long of a post.....

Clean the chamber again, you could be the next victim of the dreaded, "Carbon Ring", believe me it is possible, same thing happened to me and had me bamboozled until one the brothers of the barrel nut set me straight. Quick

Try for the fouling first, but very well could be a throat issue.
Both of my FP's have substantially longer throats than my brothers FP's
