Hey Guys,
Has anyone out there replaced their factory Mark II 22LR barrel with an aftermarket or custom barrel? I realize it isn't a 10-22 with tons of accessories, but looks like it shouldn't be too hard for a good machinist to fit one. Thanks

An aftermarket Ruger 77-22 barrel is a good starting point . It will need some machining but does work . My nephew has done 2 Mark II's with the help of his gunsmith friend . He used a wooden dowel and heat gun to remove the barrel from the receiver . 10- 22 barrels will work also but require more machining from what he told me . The barrel tenion on the 77-22 is more user friendly and saves a lot of labor from what I have been told . Both rifles are shooters with decent target grade ammo . It can definitely be done but if you can't do the machine work yourself it could get expensive . If it was not for the fact my nephews friend is a smith he would never have attempted the 2 projects .

Are you having problems with accuracy ? I've only had mine a short time and it will out perform my 10/22.

Not having any problems with accuracy...mine shoot pretty good...just wanted to play around with some aftermarket barrels and see how they shoot...I'm gonna do all the machining myself...tks
