how to0 measure barrel length?

I have a Savage 112 barrel from one end the other it measures about 26" from the end of the threads it measures 24" What is the barrel length?

Just in case you want to know how the "Feds" measure barrel length...they close the action and put a rod down the bore, measuring from breach face to muzzle end. This is good to know for those who want to shorten a barrel and one reason many don't go below 16 1/2".
