Good Morning to all,

I have a few questions for everyone. I found a smoking deal on a 9 month old Savage 111 Trophy Hunter in .270 Winchester, needless to say I picked it up right away. Now comes my dilemma, I already have a .270, but I do not have a .300 Win Mag or a .338 lapua. I would like to change calibers from the .270 Win to .300 win mag or maybe .338 lapua (I'm not sure the lapua is even possible can someone verify?) The way I understand it, I can achieve this by simply re-barreling appropriately and changing the bolt head to accommodate the new caliber. I have in fact verified that I have the long action and that I have the 1-1/16-20 Barrel Shank. Am I missing anything in the process here? Also, can anyone recommend a parts source for me? Ultimately I plan to place the barrel and the action into a nice stock and make this a long range hunting/entry level competition rifle. I appreciate everyone's input!
Thanks in advance,
Ryan

Try MidwayUSA and GunShack to find the magnum bolt head and other Savage parts. You current box magazine should work for 300 win mag. Check out CBI and McGowen for aftermarket barrels. If you become a paid member, you will have access to the classifieds and good deals on parts or a place to sell Savage parts.
