Savage flat back scope mount issue.

I have Model 116FSAK in 300 RUM large shank with a flat back receiver I will swap the barrel for a 338 Edge one, now the problem the rear of the action (flat back) have a slight slope towards the rear (about 0.10" to 0.15"), when I put a Ken Farrell long action flat back scope base the base touch only the front of the rear flat (first screw hole) but make full contact with the front round part of the receiver, is it a common problem with flat back receiver? I know bedding the rear portion of the base will probably fix this problem.

I tried a Leupold base with the same result.

I would say its not unheard of. Mine had a gap at the back of the receiver, not sure how much, so I bedded the mount.

Yeah that an option but I need a canted base (20 MOA), I never seen a 2 piece 20 MOA base for Savage.

They make inserts to do that for you. Inserts of .005, .01, and .02. It's Burris #: 626019.

If you put a two piece base on an action that is not ground correctly you have done nothing but put a two piece base on it. Both ends of the mount need to be in alinement which means bedding the base properly.

Concerning bedding compound a lot of peoples use JB Weld but epoxy putty is a good alternative? Like this one http://www.milliput.com/products.html

It's just me but I would stay with the tried and true JB Weld.

Unless it's way out of whack, the inserts for the signature Z rings will take care of minor alignment issues.
