Hello. My name is Dave, and I'm addicted to shooting.

I'm here because my friends and family feel that I have a problem, and that it may be helpful to talk with others, or join a group of people that have the same problem as me.

I shoot during the day, the night and sometimes if no one is around, I shoot early in the morning. I have even been known to "pop off" a few rounds when I go home on my lunch break. My co-workers say they can tell, because I smell like gunpowder when I get back to work. I have blown off family functions (in-laws mostly), yard work, house maintenance and many other things, just so I can selfishly go shooting. I have been found more than a few times, out in the corner of a back field, passed out in my truck and reaking of Hoppes and gun oil, tired and worn out 'cause I had been shooting from dawn to dusk. I have small hidden stashes of bullets everywhere, just in case I run out of my main supply. Some in the kitchen junk drawer, the change jar, the glove box in the truck, in the side table by my recliner, behind the hot water tank in the basement...etc. I spend money on shooting supplies, when I should have bought groceries, and I have lied to my wife about how much I actually spent on a gun.

These are only a few of the issues I have with this disease, and as you know, the first step is actually admitting that I have a problem.

Thanks for listening, and I'm glad I had the courage to join this site.

Dave

Welcome aboard!
Youve joined the right place to get help, as we will assist you in even more spending of the "grocery money" you speak of. Spending more will make it all better 👍

Thanks all. Been shootin a lot of the Savage brand lately. Gona hit the hard stuff in about a week or so when the 112 338 gets here. I just can't help myself anymore.

Seriously though, I'm looking forward to burning long hours going through the wealth of info here. Thanks in advance to all the help and advice that will inevitably be coming my way.

Welcome!

Until you got to the basement part, I thought for sure my woman had posted as a joke. I even checked the IP address to be sure.........

You are not alone.

Ya, I figured there were a few of us out there. My girl is the one that likes to tease me, and claims that I have a real "problem". She likes to shoot, so I'm lucky in that respect, but if she ever found out how much I really spend....

Saw a funny saying the other day- My only fear is that when I die, my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

Maybe that's an old one, but it made me laugh!

Thank you. I guess I should add a few other things, as the thread suggests...

About me- I like the outdoors. hunting, fishing, target practice, long range, paper and steel. I am a painter by trade, from houses, cars and guitars, to super yachts, submarines and aircraft carriers. I broke wild mustangs through high school for my family, and did a little motocross racing, along with some serious trail riding whenever I could. Reloading is my passion now, and I have a wonderful woman that makes everything I do worthwhile. My favorite gun to shoot is my Armalite AR-50 BMG. (C'mon Savage, get in the .50 game!) Savage rifles are excellent, and I have six, plus an old Stevens double barrel. My favorite Savage is my 30br built by S&S Precision. It is a target action with a Krieger 26" ported 1:17 twist heavy barrel, set in a fully bedded Savage F-class stock. Dead-nuts, scary accurate. It's fun round to make, and is even more fun to shoot. The 112 Magnum 338 Lapua will be here this week, and I can hardly wait. I am anxious to learn more about Savage rifles, and I believe this is the place to do it. This is going to be fun.
