I finally got around to putting the press together and getting it setup to punch out some plinking .223. I can't get past depriming. I am adjusting the pawls very slightly and I think I have that figured out but the whole things timing seems out. when I adjust the pawl to where case appears to be lined up with the hole the primer will fall through the die is crubbing the edge of the shell plate. if I set it to where the die is centered it will not deprime the case just pushes the deprime pin up throught the die. Just the be sure the die was good and pin wasn't bent I stuck the die in my single stage and it deprimed 10 case without a hiccup. I am google to see if anyone else has had this prob, but any tips or tricks are greatly appreciated. Maybe I am missing something but I followed the instructions.

Pictures:
this is the scrape the ram made on the body when I first put it together I know it made it then because the paint was on the little bar that that contacted it.

Pic from up top to show the rotation I am talking about. Not the shell holder on the spent primer hole the shell holder in comparison to the die hole

The best place I tell you is go to YouTube look for bill Morgan, he has a great video of setting timing.
You will setup the left paw first, and them the right paw.

There is an Up timing and a Down timing on those. IF you are looking at it while the ram is lowered the timing can be much different when the ram is up.

I load a bunch of ammo on one of these and never have issues with timing until I use the .223 shell plate. Not sure if I got an older plate but it is certainly different somehow than the other 7 shell plates I use.

If your timing is good to go. I would then check with Hornady

Im keeping an eye on this thread, Ive just started getting mine setup and have loaded 75rds or so of 45acp and have had no trouble. I plan to load 223 for my AR and have the shellplate for it, if I get a chance this weekend Ill try and cycle thru a handful of brass and see if mine gives any trouble with them.

You just couldn't leave well enough alone.
You just HAD to have a progressive press.

We tried to tell you. It never stops.

We tried to tell you & you wouldn't listen.

We told you so..................

I am so glad I wemt Dillon when I did as the first hornady attempt was on the market. I went Dillon and never looked back. With the Dillon you move the sheel plate which gets rid of a lot of headaches. If I was you I would send it back to hornady on their dime to set it up.

LOL! Thanks for reminding me. I got a bit distracted this weekend so I am going to give it another go tomorrow setting it up fresh.

I have loaded several thousand rounds on my LNL AP. Here are a few things that will help you....

First do this

Then this

Shims you will need...

One thing further that I did... when I had the Sub Plate off when I was installing the shims from above post ^^.... I took a large drill bit and slightly chamfered the primer drop tube hole

Thanks Real hunter I will give it a try. I have been slammed at work so hopefully I will get some time to mess with it this weekend.
