I am going to place an order for a barrel soon and I am trying to get my ducks in a row for the rest of the parts. If I get an M24 or a heavy varmint profile barrel 26" will that width barrel limit my options for stocks? I was leaning towards one of the boyds but I have been seeing mixed reviews on them. Are the composite stocks a lot lighter or would the heavier laminate stock balance out the rifle better? thanks

All the Boyd's stocks I have bought have a small barrel channel in them and I think I a light varmint would be the biggest to fit. I have a 1" bull barrel on my 22-250 and had to open the barrel channel up. I am a lefty also. The Choate stock will fit a bull barrel in it.

The Boyd's tacticool and choate stock I have are very close in weight. I had cracking problems at the back action screw on my Boyd's varmint pro but I fixed that with an aluminum bedding block. That was my only complaint with it. Other than that I like the feel and shape of it, and the colored laminate looks really sharp.
