I've been toying around with the idea of a 6.5x55. I picked up a Kimber sporterized M96 Mauser, but after getting used to proper left hand action guns, I just can't seem to get into working the bolt wrong-handed anymore. The options for left hand 6.5x55 are hard to find or expensive, Sako, Zastava, probably blaser, maybe cz.

So I had the thought of building a left hand savage in 6.5x55.

My original thought was to buy a 110 long action and use that. However, I have a late 60s 110 intermediate action in 22.250 that isn't serving a particular purpose at the moment, so I could build from that.

The magazine box is WAY oversize for the 22.250 on this model, but I'm not sure if it'll be quite long enough for the 6.5x55, and I don't feel like pulling the gun apart at the moment to take measurements, so I thought I'd throw a post up here and see.

My Mcgowan pre fit is chambered SAMI spec and a 140 amax touches the lands at an OAL of 3.140, here it is loaded at 3.135

I just measured the blind .308 mag box that I ordered for a 110c intermediate action. OAL 2.890" I have since gone with an AICS style XLR chassis and with the alpha 10 round mag, the max OAL measures 2.920"
Best bet would be a long action for your needs.

No shortage of $225-ish long action flat backs at the pawn shops around here, though I understand you wanting to use an action you already have. Doubt you could shoot the high BC bullets with that mag length though.
