I'm getting ready to set up a switch barrel rig, and while I'm at it I'd like to get a barrel in 25 WSSM seeing as I already have reloading supplies for it. If I'm going to build a WSSM cartridge, do I "need" a large shank action? Are the new Target actions, with the 4.40" spacing capable of handling the WSSM? Can I purchase a Target action repeater? All I seem to find right now are single shots. Thanks.

You can use a small shank action.

Yes any savage 10 or 110 action can handle a standard magnum cartridge.
The large shank just adds a tad more safety factor.
Neither will handle larger magnums safely like the 338 lapua.

The target action is a single shot.

You are probably going to have feeding and ejection problems with that shell.
You definitely need a centerfeed short action, and you will probably need
to extend the ejection pin to get it to eject properly, but I am not 100% on that.

I do know that the 6mmBR with he factory ejection pin the shell will flip around in the action.

I had a 25WSSM in an AR15 and never could get 25-06 velocities out of it plus with a blind mag I think you will only get
3 cartridges in the mag.

Also keep in mind if you reload the brass is so hard you can not judge it for pressure as the first sign of pressure will be a hard
bolt lift or the primer falls out. The brass is super hard, but you might already know that.

Personally if I were going to build a factory shell 25 caliber something or other it would be a 250 savage or a 25-06.
