Does anyone here use the hornady 105bthp in their 6mm br? I am using varget and hodgdon says 29.0 is the top load however I have seen loads for 30.0 grains. What do you fellas think? The rifle is a 6 br savage pta action with a savage bull barrel , basically an f-class I use as a switch barrel. The barrel is 30 inches long. I started off the lands at -.005.

Jon, on my BR, I use mostly Bergers, all types. My charge is always around 31.0 . One bullet loves 29.3 grains of Varget.

I love shooting Nosler Ballistic Tips out of mine as well. Awesome is all I can say, hunting only with the NBT's.

A lot of guys seem to load hot for the 6BR with no problems but in my rifle (Savage with a McGowen barrel) the most accurate load I’ve found for the 105gr Hornady matches and Varget is 28.5gr. Try some lighter bullets with Varget as well. I have a fast twist barrel but it will shoot 68gr Barts like a laser. It’s an amazingly accurate combo.

Those little BR cases can really take the heat, I have loaded 30gr up to 32gr + and the primer pockets don't even loosen up.

I guess I am in the ball park as I started at 28.0 grains and worked up to 30.0 max. I will let you know once I fired the rounds and see what kind of accuracy I get.

FWIW I ran into the same question using the 105 Amax and H4895. 6mmbr.com lists 29gr as max for 2840. I ran into pressure and backed off to 28gr. Seated just into the lands I'm seeing 2770 with an ES of 11 and a SD of 4. Probably the lower node but it shoots great at 600.
