Hi everyone,

I have a older Model 12 SS heavy barrel .22-250 that has developed a firing problem. It will shoot 1-4 rounds off and then will not fire. I have had some work on the gun and basically had the bolt rebuilt including new firing pin. The trigger seems to be working fine, each unfired round ejects and after chambering the next round the trigger works the round does not fire.

Probably 1000 rounds down the original barrel.

Any thoughts?

Is there a firing pin indentation on the unfired rounds?

Why was the bolt worked on? Who did the work?

Have you measured the firing pin distance? Bolt in the firing position, how much of the firing pin is sticking out of the bolt head? You should be able to measure it with any caliper.

It is also a possibility the sear has a problem, or the firing pin spring has lost it's tension.

All assuming you have the headspace set correctly.

Are you sure it isn't an ammo problem? Not fully seated primers or something? Have you tried different types of ammo?
