Let me check my 223AI load data........................sorry, I've used H4895 and Varget for my 69 grain loads. The only load I have listed for IMR4895 is pushing a 62 grain FMJ (24.5 grains). I use this load to fire form brass. Velocity out of my barrel gave me 2955 fps.

I have used it many times in both my 223 and 223 AI, and have put as much IMR4895 as I could fit with those 69gr Sierra's, and have never been over pressure.
although I am never close to the lands, I like them between 50 to 100 thou away.

Thanks guys, rand some through last night going to book load data max on 223. No signs at max load so ill keep moving up. Honestly not impressed but I was rushing it with the rain so we shall see. I am starting at .02 away until I find a suitable load then ill check to see where they like. All kind of new to me, never loaded for actual accuracy juts usually plinking. All brass is prepped and going on second reload, all charges weighed. the only thing I didn't do is sort my brass which I intend to do before testing this go around. Any other suggestions? if these don't pan out I think ill jump into the varget.

The 4895 should do well for you. It has for me with 69gr. bullets. Unless you have a extremely long free bore I doubt you'll ever get enough 4895 in the case to see pressure signs. H-335 would be a good alternative as it was originally formulated for 5.56 Nato. Other powders like Accurate 2230 were developed for military .223/5.56. IMR-4198 is another well known .223 group tightener. Keep in mind these powders were formulated before the advent of heavy bullets in .223 became wide spread.

Pretty sure 24 grains is the book accuracy load with imr 4895 + 69 smk.

When ever you see "book accuracy load" it is for that rifle being used for the testing, chamber specs, barrel length, and twist, from any other rifle will change that.

Should I bed this gun or switch powders and try something new, just not impressed yet. But then again I may need to keep shooting because its operator error... thoughts? I may need to work with the trigger, I have a timney on the other sibling to this in a 22-250 and I shoot that better with any load. Please enlighten this somewhat green accuracy shooter.

You need to send them faster notice the smaller grouping in the second string, you still have plenty of room in that case, and are nowhere near seeing pressure signs with 69s and 4895.

10-4 I am using CCI 400 primers and they are cupping pretty good, but nothing else. Im guessing new BR primers will solve this issue. Ill keep trying the Top right was 24.9 bottom right was 25.2 on the second pic and I did see them tightening up. For what its worth I shoot TL, BL, middle, TR, Bottom Right going up in charge. I appreciate all replies.

223 AI as the first line describes, savage 12 action, Mcgowen 8 twist for specifics though. Thanks for asking.
