Interesting. I wonder if the barrel threads were cut off center slightly to the left. But I guess that doesn't explain how it managed to pass range tests.

Well I finally got home and set up the replacement rifle with its glass. And will be off to the range this afternoon. Hope it shoots better than the original one. here it is sporting its conquest HD5.

Nice....glad you got your "replacement". I'm wondering if that bolt handle will fit will fit on the earlier model FCP-SR....?

I don't know about that. I think the only thing that's different is the stock and bottom metal. the action should be the same.

Well I finally got it to the range. WOW is all I can say this gun shoots lights out. Once sighted in, it put up a 5 shot group at 100 yards you could cover with a nickle with 168gr Federal gold match. Time to start working up a load for it. My plans were to replace the stock but I don't know about that now.

My model 11 308 Christmas present left on the Brown truck today for Savage for the same sort of problem. I sure hope mine does not spend a month at Savage!!

I hear you on this! My FCP shoots so good I will not touch it. Not removing action from stock, etc. Leave it alone.

Hi I have the 10FCP-SR as well with the 24 inch barrel - bought it last November 2015 and have only looked at it every week since purchased. I have my dies and brass ready for reloading but need to purchase some good glass. My question and am sure others may be thinking this as well. Since, they re-barreled your rifle perhaps there were others in that sequence that have the same problem. The serial number on my SR is J554405 - is your serial number close to this? You can PM me if you wish

Mine shoots great I did change bottom metal and mag to accurate mag. In fact I bought the new bottom metal and mag before my rifle arrived, I couldn't be happier especially since magpul is making and selling AICS mags for it. happy shooting

Wish mine did!:-( I'm going on the first week and called, was told that they are flooded with orders and gunsmith haven't looked at it yet! Not what I expected buying a rifle and getting a long wait! Hope they find the problem and the turn around is fast. Hopefully they throw something in for the inconvenience!

Yea, my Christmas made it back to Savage this past Friday. I called customer service to confirm it was there and was told they wouldn't even open the box for about a week and they would probably have my gun for 3-6 weeks.

Same problem, shooting about a 12" low and 8" right of the muzzle point of aim @ 50 yards. The scope aligned well with the muzzle point of aim, the bullets simply left the barrel on a drastically different path than the barrel was pointed. Acted like the barrel had a bend in it near the end.

So I called Savage yesterday and was finally told after 4.5 weeks they have determined that the receiver was no good( no other detail available from them) but that they are going to issue a new rifle and it would be another couple weeks or so! Fingers crossed !!
