It started at $70You could bid 50,000 or 5 million but truth is you'd only be paying a dollar more than the bidder you outbid. That's how the auction works. The bidding goes up in one dollar increments and once it gets to a certain dollar figure it goes up by 2.50 and so on and so on. If you look at the 14 bids they went up in 50 increments by the same bidder and then compare that to the time the bid was placed. I'd be suspecting schilling went on but hey if the top bidder wants to pay 800 so be it.

It looked to me the bid was to be $79 and it ended up being $790 by adding the extra 0. The winner was at $800 which I would have thought would be $80. There's no way anyone will pay $800 for that barrel.

I suspect Schilling also. Some folks believe that the barrels that have been going for outrageous prices on eBay lately may be going overseas illegally.
