I just purchased a Weather Warrior 116 with a 24" barrel in 6.5-284 Norma. I was wondering if anyone has used Accurate MagPro or Ramshot Magnum powders for this cartridge? I know H4350 & H4831SC are the premier choices, but I don't want the associated throat erosion. On the accurate shooter forum an individual swears by H1000, but that seems hard to find. Western Powders has updated data for MagPro and Magnum (http://blog.westernpowders.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/LoadGuide-6.5X284-Norma-update6-7-14.pdf) , but I have seen little discussion in regards to how they actually perform.

I asked the very same question not long ago. Here is a link to that thread and my range results.

We tried the MagPro, but accuracy was all over the place. H4350 and IMR7828 shot better for us. Don't overlook Retumbo if you can get your hands on it. I haven't been able to, but there's lots of info on the Retumbo and the 140 VLD on the Long Range Hunting website, last time I looked it was 60 some pages. Lots of useless blabber with some good info thrown in.

Retumbo is my favorite powder for the 6.5-284 but after messing with a few different rifles chambered in 6.5-284 it either loves Retumbo or hates it. I have found if it doesn't like the really slow burners it generally likes H4831 or something similar.

I have shot qiite a bit of the magnum powder as well as most of the ramshot line up. I have been pleased with the results of all their powder. To answer your question about the 6.5-284 try around 57 grains and a bullet in the 140 range. I think you will be happy with the way it preforms, just as a side note this was with a regular primer not a magnum. Not sure if it matters.
