How does one remove the follower and spring from a 516 magazine?

As far as I remember, you have to take the magazine off. Which may involve removing all the linkage. I can pull mine apart tonight and look.

Must first remove all of the trigger linkage. Then the plate on the magazine will slide out towards the trigger. The plate has a rolled edge that slides over the magazine.
