work up load for 308?

I am looking for recommendations for a bench rest load using new Lapua 308 brass, Varget powder and Hornady 165 SST bullets.
I have read Lapua has a thicker wall than other brass and would like suggestions. I cannot seem to find any solid information regarding
how much less powder to use due to the decreased inside volume of the brass.

Start with 43.4 then 43.7, 44.0, 44.3. The SST's sink deep in the case. They like to jump. one of those will work. If you need to you can go up .3 to 44.6 but I don't think you will need it.

Why would you use an sst for benchrest sir?

I use the SST 165sst for hunting and 168 Amax for bench....R15 with 210 primers.

I wrote bench rest but that was only my use of words, referring to me testing different loads. I am new to the rifle world, my experience is in handgun and reloading for such. My plan is to work up a good load for hunting.

I agree with TXCOONDOG on the R-15. for Texas. But if you live in a place where you test loads in the 80's and hunt in the 10's maybe the Varget that you have on hand is the powder for you.

Maybe a thought would be to try the new enduron IMR powder 4451 as it was developed with the .308 in mind.

I love varget in the 308, if you want to use it and can find it you're in better shape than most, lots of options but varget would be my #1 choice.
Of course I think the 178 a-max is a solid choice for any purpose that a 308 is qualified for.
