Hi Gents , I am a proud new owner of the 110 BA 300 Win Mag. I am a long time re-loader and looking for a load for it . I know there are lots of 300 win mag loads out there BUT with the BA you can stretch it out as much as you want length wise. So i was wondering if anybody had done any experimenting with it.
Thanks and so glad i found this site !!

Hey Cappy something like 208 Amax's, Berger 210s and Sierra 210s or the like.

I was wondering if you could do me a solid, and measure the thickness of the bolt head on your BA, it should be .500 or .550 that would be great if you could.

Like scope eye i shoot heavies in my BA 300wm...it dont like 190s or under...i shoot 208g bthps 210smks and 220g smks...i shot the 240smks and they shot well but were like lobbing bricks. With the 220s it likes a stout load of H4831 or H1000...210s shoot great with H4831 and H1000 but both the 210s and 208s love RL-22 with a slight edge going to the 208s (plus their cheaper). With all loads the CCI250 primers give me the best ES.

Thanks LongRange great stuff ! have you ever experimented with the COL ? some like it touching the lands some want a 5 to 8 k jump . what is your thoughts ?
Thanks

i dont even know where to start here lol...the only bullets i shot in my 300 that liked being more than .006 off the lands were the 220smks...that was in the factory barrel and they liked being .025 plus off the lands but at .025 off they shot the best..my current barrel likes the bullets close...004 off for the 208s .006 for the 220s and the 210s like touching or slightly jammed.

off topic here but maybe helpful... i also have a 260 i built and the first barrel liked all bullets close or jammed...i just re-barreled my 260 with a barrel from the same maker(shilen)same length same profile but with a lot more free bore...now with all the barrels ive shot they liked the bullets close to the lands so thats where i started with this new barrel and was having all sorts of issues. well as its ends up this new barrel likes the bullets .020 to .025 off the lands.

this is my suggestion...pick a bullet you want to shoot(id start with the 208g hornadys as they are inexpensive and shoot well)pick a powder that you can find...H1000 and retumbo work well but good luck find any...H4831 and re-loader 22 work well with the edge going to re-loader 22 IMHO...pick a primer CCI250s have been the best for me...shoot a ladder test at 4-500yds with bullets seated at .004 off lands(even though i dont think ladder tests are all that great)take the charges that group the tightest vertically and shoot them at 300yds for 5 shot groups...take the charge that shoots the best group and do a seating test...touching lands..005 off .010 off .015 off .025 off then take the tightest group and play with the powder charge in .3g increments up x2 down x2 if its not where you want it after seating test.

this is all assuming your going to use this riffle as a long range target riffle which im guessing you are as it weighs 17lbs if i remember correctly...mine is right at 21lbs now....id also get rid of the ugly tacti cool base and buy a nice 20 or 30moa base...the stock base on my 300 was flat and they claim its 20moa.

I wouldn't say I have a lot of knowledge lol...I'm still learning every day and still have a lot to work on...holding stead, trigger pull and leaving well enough alone are my biggest issues at this point with leaving well enough alone being the biggest!
