I started shooting when my Dad took us out and taught us how to safely handle and shoot our .22 cal rifle and shotgun. As a teenager I enrolled in the marksmanship qualification program for .22 caliber rifles or whatever the equivalent was back in the dark ages. My primary interest is competition, specifically high power rifles. My immediate goal is to select a suitable target rifle, without breaking the bank, and enroll in the high power marksmanship qualification program. Of all the manufacturers out there, Savage seems to make the closest thing to what I have in mind. I'm still undecided about which caliber to shoot and which of Savage's target rifles will fit my goals the best, but I'm not asking for input for that here. I'm just introducing myself here. The only other gun I have currently is a bicentennial issue Ruger .357 in stainless steel. I look forward to connecting with other target shooters in the greater DC area.
