My second savage build started out with a RB/RP PTA and a 26" shilen SM in 6BR Norma with a .272" neck. Found a good deal on a BVSS stock and filled the mag well and then bedded over it with Devcon. Scope rail is an EGW F-class mount with a few lugs cut off the end because standard rails wouldn't allow me to swap optics between my long and short actions. Can't wait to get it to the range and try out some 65gr and 108gr Bergers.

Very nice.
How did you get the 3rd pillar installed ? Those stocks are normally set up for the standard action with two holes.

I filled the mag well with quick steel because it is quick, cheap, and sets up like a rock. Then I drilled a new hole through it for the pillar. Ended up being a lot cheaper than buying a PTA stock and any 4.4" center feed stock will work if you have the PTA with the 4.4" spacing.

Great to know. That is a very good stock too, I love mine !
I would love to hear how it shoots, that is my next build....some day.

Initial load work up. Lapua brass, BR4 primers, varget, and 108gr bergers all jammed 0.010". The first image is the first 3 shots out of a clean cold barrel. Second image is the full 5 shot group. I'm pretty happy with this setup, I wonder what it will do with some flat bases.

I ordered a protektor 3C front bag and decided to make a non-invasive bag rider to steady my Bvss stock and help it track better. I ended up drilling a hole in the forearm where a second swivel stud is on some stocks. I then polished up a piece of aluminum and attached it. On the top side I put some helicopter blade tape to help it stick to the stock and keep it level. It ended up being very sturdy and tracks well. Should be a good way to keep the cordura from wearing my stock, and I can always take it off.

Very nice setup.
The bedding work looks excellent. How did you get the front edge of the bedding in front of the recoil lug to look like that?
There is no apparent edge, like you might get with a dam. And it doesn't look to be trimmed, with a dremel or other cleanup work. And I don't see any marks from the barrel nut.

I do like the bag-rider. Besides reducing wear, I'm sure it will help with the stock tracking on the rest.

It did have an edge and I cleaned it up with a dremel sanding drum. I wiped it with a little bit of milpro lpx since it is in a non essential area and it made it look like it wasn't trimmed.

Started workin up a load for some 64.25 ge Berger columns today. They are super consistent across all powder charges. I may have reached the limit of aiming error with my 21x scope with a 0.05 mil center dot. All of these 5 shot groups were shot free recoil with the trigger at 6oz.
