I have a Savage Model 1899, 30-30, T/D, 20" barrel, S/N 163XXX and I believe it was built in 1915. I would like to know what rear sights were available for this rifle and what would be the best way to try to find them and what would be a reasonable price to pay.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your information. Any idea on where to look for one and what price range it would be in? Also, the rifle has two threaded holes in the tang. Are these holes in all rifles or would a rear sight have been mounted there?

The two holes in the tang are for tang sights, probably easier finding one of them and just putting a slot blank in the barrel dovetail.

The rear sight will run you upwards of $75 and the tang sight will be around $125 usually, markets really iffy right now.
