ive been thinking about turning my 110BA 300WM into a 260...i just started doing a little research and have read that the newer savages are all using the .095 firing pin so am i correct in ass-uming the BAs are running the smaller pins? (ill pull it and check but just wondering if you guys knew) if its the small pin will i need to change to the .145 pin for the 308 bolt head?

I can't answer you question but something I thought I noticed Savage doing now is they are making changes that have increased to cost of changing calibers. If you don't keep the same bolt head the cost is a lot more expensive than a few years back. You are better off selling the one you have and buying another caliber. It is as if Savage is trying to discourage the old hobby of rebarreling in order to force you to buy the whole gun.

Most likely .098 firing pin, but measure to be sure. If new bolt head is Savage it should be .098

The best way to find out is to put the serial number of your 110BA into the Savage Parts Finder. Look at part # 12H in the schematic. Click on the 12H and if it says "Obs. Bolt head ret pin 100099" then it's the large hole. If your .308 bolt face is not marketed as a large hole bolt face, then you shouldn't need the large firing pin or retaining pin.

ive seen that the 6mm is dominating...two ppl were shooting 6mm creedmoores at our match last saturday and they were like lasers even in a 15 to 20mph wind...they were holding about 1.5MOA off the 650 coyote...i was holding 2.5 to 3MOA.
