Bought a savage 110 for a build started off as a 7mm and was going to build a 338 edge hunting rifle it when I went to screw the new barrel into action seemed a little loose but didn't think anything of it until I tightened the barrel nut and could feel something loose when I picked the rifle up so as it turns out the threads are cut to deep on my barrel so here is my question..

Has this ever happened to anyone before and can this be fixed with mabe Teflon tape or anything or it this barrel junk???

Sounds like you have a large shank action and a small shank barrel. Or a barrel that's not threaded for a Savage action. The only safe option is to acquire either the correct action for your barrel or the correct barrel for your action.

The barrel is for a small shank savage action

Where did you buy the barrel?

Which barrel nut was removed from the rifle?

I bought this barrel off this site in the classified section and had it rechambered to edge

If the action is a small shank as you indicate, and the barrel itself is loose when the barrel nut is tightened up against the recoil lug, you really have no alternative but to send the barrel back or have a gunsmith setback the barrel and cut new threads. I'd definitely be in contact with the person you got the barrel from first though. Applying anything to the threads to tighten them up is not something you should ever attempt to do with a high pressure explosive device that's inches from your cheek when you pull the trigger. I cannot imagine anyone's quality control allowing a barrel out the door with threads such as you describe.

Ive already tried everything possible except set the chamber back and rethread the barrel
This barrel has been sitting around for a year truing to figure out what to do with it

Does the barrel thread in easily? Maybe the barrel is threaded for a Remage.

I you have a pair of calipers and the 7mm barrel, what's the OD of the threads compared to the OD of the threads on the Edge barrel?

If it was threaded for a Remage, it'd be threaded for 16 threads per inch instead of 20, it would not screw together very well, and the barrel nut would not screw onto the barrel easily either.

No be barrel is threaded for a savage action im wondering if maybe the threads got rolled over due to long scope base screw and somone tried to repair it

The two I measured are both 1.049" about halfway down the thread base.

Just measured the barrel it is 1.05 for major diameter and 1.01 minor diameter
I do have another barrel to check it with and it was 1.049 major diameter and 1.02 minor

What do the threads, in the receiver measure. The id should be close to 1.012 inch. What is the O.D. of the threads on the barrel that was removed from the action?

Action was 1.015 and the barrel was 1.050 on the old barrel over threads and minor diameter of the old barrel is 1.02
