I'm new to this site, and just took possession of my first ever Savage rifles. As soon as the weather mellows out a bit, I'll head to the range and give them a thorough workout. I ordered them back in late December and they arrived at the local gun shop last Friday. A model 25 Light Varmint T chambered in .222 Remington, and a Mark II BTV .22 LR.

I think you'll like them. I don't have a model 25, but I have a MkII and I like it a lot.
Enjoy.

Well after reading the good , the bad and the ugly about the Model 25 in 17 Hornet on 02/15/2015 I purchased one .
Today 03/16/15 the weather broke and I took it out for a test run and let me say this thing can shoot , I sighted it
in an inch high at 100 yards off a bench and with factory ammo. This thing shot 1/2 - 5/8 three shot groups, Oh yeah
my eyes aren't that good, I'm 63 years young but very happy with the results. Varmints beware !!

I then shot 125 yards to the end of the range at clay birds laying on a bank ...........It smoked them. This rifle worked
with out a flaw, bolt worked smooth , clip fed Ok , no stuck cases ........ very smooth for a $350 rifle . It's my first
Savage and I'm glad I purchased it .....

Hi I've kicking around buying a Mod. 25 in 222 to shoot in competition at 100&200yds. "factory class" Let me know how you make out at the range?

PA, You ask about how the 222 shoots in the Model 25. I have the same rifle the original poster has. Mine was bought in 2013. It is the high gloss version. It's action was slick out of the box as opposed to the rough mat finished one I have in 22 hornet. The 222 seems to be more forgiving as to what it will shoot than the 223 I have in a model 11. This is what the 222 has always been. I haven't found a load it doesn't shoot well. Some are better though. Sub 1/2" five shot groups at 100yd with many groups in the .3's. With the 1:14 barrel I limit my bullets to 50gr. Have not seen a need to go heavier or longer. It really likes 40gr Varmegeddons or 40gr v-maxes but will shoot 34/35gr or 50gr Hornady sps. I don't know if I would call it a competition level rifle, depends on what the other shooters call "Factory". I use mine for "gopher shoot'n" and it shines.

I've only had the chance to fire 50 rounds from mine so far. 19 gr. IMR 4198 over a Speer 52 gr. hollow point seated .005" off the lands. to break in the barrel. Mine was brand new from the Savage factory in Feb.2015. Matte finished in a Boyds thumbhole stock. Temps in the mid 70's, wind from dead calm to 10mph gusts. First 5 rounds at 25 yds. went into one ragged hole. I fired 15 rnds. at 50yds cleaning between shots. 1st 100yd. 5 shot group.4 touching .437", fifth shot opened group up to .748" second group,4 touching .274" fifth shot opened group to .583". Third group with wind gusting, two clusters that measured .7025" 4th group was a vertical string measuring.806" Last group fired was 10 rounds with 7 rounds touching for .594" with the other 3 rounds opening the group to 1.038".

Sounds like accurate little rifles.
