Looking at a 111 in 7mm. The SN is 6959734. So I'm assuming it's an older gun. No luck putting the SN in on savages website. My biggest question is this likely a 3 screw trigger? Also are stocks on these older guns pretty good or not?
Thank in advance for the help!!

Not know the exact year, I can only speculate but, the chances are good it has the 3 screw trigger. I take it there's no bulge on the barrel where a rear sight mounts (if it has iron sights). If the shop will allow you to look, pull the action to see if it is a 3 screw trigger.

From the FAQ:
"There were various marks and symbols to be found on Model 110 rifles. Rifles made in 1958, 1959 and some made in 1960 are marked "Chicopee Falls, Mass." In 1960, as mentioned earlier, the company moved to Westfield, MA. Serial numbers began at 1,000; there were several made with this number to satisfy members of management that wanted the "first". There was no requirement for serial numbering rifles at the time so it was legal. The 1966 version began at 100,000 to avoid problems with parts orders. On December 16, 1968 a new system was started and the first gun was #A001001. All the various rifles and shotguns were numbered sequentially as finished without regard to what they were."
Since serial numbers started at 100,000 in 1966 and had a letter prefix due to the GCA OF 1968, that serial number appears to be built within those two years. I think you may have an extra digit in that serial number though. I'd bet the first digit is actually a "G", since it's a 111 model, and the 111 was introduced somewhere in the late 80's-early 90's.

Very good information, thanks very much for that.

I'm going to bet that the "6" at the start of your SN is actually a "G". The early 110 SN's that didn't have a letter prefix never had more than 6 digits in them.

Edit: guess I should have read HotOld's full reply before posting.

Thanks for the info guys!!
Hotolds442, you were exactly right. I had the owner text me a pic, and it was a G prefix gun.
Turns out it is a 111FCXP3. No manufacture date listed though, but it looks like the 3 screw trigger from the schematic.
Thanks for all the help.
