So I've searched this forum and others and it sounds like you cannot buy a new savage long action unless you buy the whole rifle correct? I was just wondering because I can pick up a Stevens 200 long action for $350 but if I could just get the action with a accu trigger it would save me money on upgrading the Stevens trigger on a rifle build.

Unless your dead set on a new action, shop around. I picked up a barreled action for $225 not to long ago. And I'm sure there are others who have paid less. It was obviously used but as good as new. I put a wood stock on it and turned around and sold it for $450.

As far as buying a new action from savage, I'd call their customer service and ask them directly.

I am not dead set on a new action a good used action would do. I've been shopping and a bit back home and I haven had much luck on a used rifle or action but I'll keep searching.

What other common caliber rifles should I look for if I want to change to 300win mag, 7mm REM mag 30-06?
