mag follower replacement

Noob here with a Savage 110FP in 308. I'm thinking abt adding a loading ramp to make the gun a single shot. Does this this item replace the spring and follower or does it sit on top? Does it ride against the bolt?

I believe they sit on top of the spring and follower. That way it has some pressure on it to keep it in place, instead of falling down into the blind mag.
