Im currently converting a M700 (22-250) to a remage style 6x55 swede imp. I knew the swede case head was a little bigger than the standard .473. Ive got my barrel on and headspace set and such. I have to set the case against the bolt face myself and close the bolt to get it to work. I cant just pop the case in the chamber and close the bolt. Ive put it in my savage bolts and it goes against them just fine. So I guess my question is....am I better off finding a way to turn down case head to fit or having the bolt face opened up just a touch, and if I open the bolt face would affect me if I go back to a standard .473 cartridge? Input or thoughts?
Thanks guys

My 6x55BR uses the 6.5x55 as the parent case and has no issues with a .473 bolt face. I use only Lapua brass, and have not modified the brass or the bolt head in any way. I can feed it from the magazine, slide it down the tube by hand, or just lay it on top of the mag and close the bolt. It could be that the Savage bolt face has a little more clearance than the Remington.

HotOlds, I'm pretty sure the savages have more clearance. I tried it in 2 of my savage .473 bolts and the cases went fine. (My cases are lapua) Stupid Remingtons lol 😉
Sharpshooter, what do you think would be the best method to turn them?

I would chuck up a full length die in my lathe and use that to hold them.
