Saw an older 110 at the local gun store today. .243 on a long action. Flat back receiver. They want 250 for it. Not sure if that receiver is worth the money. Would appreciate some feedback.

$250 for a complete rifle is cheap, flat back or not
Some folks have had issues with mounting scopes due to the flat back mount being off from the front mount but usually nothing a one piece rail and bedding can't solve if there is a problem

get it , I have several I like to use these for builds can seat bullets out longer ,but you can not do a long action caliber on them ,might have a 3 screw trigger too

I prefer the old flat tops to brand new rifles because they were blued. New rifles are matte. I wont buy a matte firearm. There are too many older blued used rifles out there to bother with buying a cheap looking, new, matte finished rifle.
$250 is nice but offer lower. See what they say. Id pay $250 for the flat top before I buy any new matte design. A blued barrel spells class and tradition to me. A deer rifle should display tradition. Take your matte rifles to use at the shooting range.

PS take a steel or aluminum straight edge to check the front and rear top if that is a worry. You will find they are exactly level.

Get it, great price. I got one for the same price two years ago, and it even had an older tasco ( made in Japan ). Mine is a short action, not as old as yours. I rebarreled for 6.5x47 lapua. Love it ! You can adjust those 3 screw triggers down some too.

That would be a good price around here, go for it!

I am goose hunting for the next 3 days. When I get back I think I will offer him $225 but I will most likely pay his price if I need to. I know that action won't shoot a 30-06 length round but I wonder how it would be with a 6.5-284 length round

If it is a 110, I think it will shoot a 30-06 with the right bolt head/baffle

Make sure it's not an intermediate action

Make sure it's not an intermediate action

Why do you say that? Ive never heard of a Savage 110 intermediate length flat top receivers. Are their intermediate actions out there? The long action 110 is the only receiver length Ive ever heard mentioned in here

Intermediate action will measure 4.522 from action bolt to action bolt, not many aftermarket stocks for that action, and it's not gonna be enough room in the box or cutout for a long action cartridge (25-06,30-06,270).

I could be wrong but I kinda think this one measured 5.2 or around there.
