Here are some pics of my model 99 that has been passed down through my family. I was wondering why there is no year model such as 1899 stamped on the barrel?

Those stamping look like factory stampings on the barrel. Is there no barrel address on the rifle? The savage rifles mainly were never stamped with model numbers on them. Some were stamped model 1899 and model 99. The only one that the models were stamped were Model 99F and Model 99M (which wasn't a model but a designation for the monte carlo stocks).

Those are the only markings on the rifle. I took the scope off and I am planning on putting a peep sight on it. Kinda want to get back to the old school look and feel.

Thanks

My recent purchase has the following-

24" barrel-300 Savage, Cut checkering, lever safety, steel butt plate, 674xxx S/N.

On the boss there is the oval which has in it-30 and the reverse C.

Under the front hand guard P B 8 and a 3. Under the buitt plate P B 8. PB like PB & J for peanut butter/jelly.

What model and when made??
