I have a Leatherwood scope that does the same thing instead of a pin adjustment it has a numbered adjustment ring to do the adjustment

That unit doesn't look like it would hold up to a 50 BMG or a 338 Lapua for very long but for lighter kicking guns it should do OK. For the $400 price tag I think I would step up the Ivey mount. Barrett has some rings with two fixed settings, 15/40 MOA or their new one that I think is 20/30 MOA.

I happen to live in the same town as the guy who came up with the design. I`ve seen them first hand and I was quite impressed. He sells a good many of them with no complaints. He`s made them in a 20 position version for the 50 BMG`s that has held up fine. The 10 position seems to be his most popular. You can set it up in 100yd increments (100 to 1000yds) or any distance you wish. For shooting timed competions with known distances, this is a good route to go. Also saves wear on your scope if you do alot of dialing.

What holds the rear of the base tight after you have made your adjustments? From looking at the video it is hard to tell. Just from looking at the photos I am betting that mount would self destruct after a few hundred rounds on a lightweight carbine 50 BMG. If it can handle a 338 Mag then it should be fine on a heavier 50 Cal. like the Armalite, with a good brake since even Burris Signatures work OK on those, but the Signatures will eventually fail on the lightweights.

Not really.

With the variable mount you get zero's at the distances of your choice.
