Hello all. New to the forum. Thought I would share a couple of pictures of deer taken with my Savage 116(I think?) weather warrior 30-06.

Family farm in WI this year. 237 yards, my biggest whitetail.

I love this rifle, if I do my job it never fails. Just wanted to join the forums to see what else I can do to improve things. I want to start practicing out to 600 yards on targets to prepare myself for 400 yard shot in the field and go from there. I have a Ziess Conquest 3-9x40 on there now but am thinking of a 4-16 along with upgraded bases and rings. I thought you all could start pointing me in the right direction. Thanks

Lol I just noticed the same hat. Where I hunt at home was shotgun only until 2 years ago and I used my grandpa's Browning A5 for many many years.

A big welcome to the forums. You've harvested some mighty fine deer in the last few years, congratulations. Some impressive ranges too. Growing up in Wisconsin, all I knew was shotgunning for deer unless you were way up north.

Welcome! Great pics. I live in downstate Michigan but have a very remote camp in the U.P. on the north boundry of the Strurgeon River Gorge Wilderness Area. Again welcome!:eagerness:

We call that a target not a hat, but please take it off first. At bear camp if anyone missed a bear we all got to shoot his hat at the same distance & he had to wear it the rest of the trip.

Dunno about hat shooting, but it's pretty clean the lens on my phone's camera needs a good cleaning.

Is that a blue hat with black stripes?
