Opinions please for Hogs.
So I have some RL17 and some 208 gr amaxes coming and from what I have read and from QL I should be able to get 2550 out of them with my barrel.
They have a .67 BC and a big SD of over .3
I was running some numbers last night on my 338/284 and its sweet spot is about like a 338-06 or maybe 200-225 gr bullets.
I got some decent numbers out of a 200 gr accubond, then I am thinking, I will be hunting with a 208 gr 308 bullet, so whats the huge diff.
Now I am pretty much of the opinion now that if I cant shoot a 338 250 gr bullet like a 250 gr gameking at 2500+ FPS I am not going to see much difference.
I think I can barely get 2500 out of my 338/284 with a 250 gr gameking if I run it long in a long action, but I wont know for sure until I run it through a chrono.
Cant get that out of a scenar due to the much longer bullet length.
I think eventually I will find a 338 winmag barrel and with that I should be able to push 250 gr scenars at 2600 +.
