I have had my Savage Model 10p for several months and have been itching to get it to the range. Well last week I finally got the chance. I have been set on getting a new stock since the day I got the rifle. I have been looking into the Choate line because they allow you to use your stock bottom metal. Today I think I changed my mind. Partly because I had to pay 1800 in taxes and secondly because of how well the gun shot.

I was shooting Norma TAC 150gr. FMJ off of a picnic table off of a bipod. My best group was .46 MOA at 100 yards. I didn't take a picture because I figured I could do this again (NOPE).

After tightening my scope base back up I averaged just over 1 MOA but had several groups between .5-.75 MOA.

I then switched to 168gr FGMM and shot one grouping at .99.

I think I have changed my mind about changing this stock right now.

I also just ordered reloading gear so hopefully I can get a load that tightens the groups up even more. Any suggestions on powder?

My complete set up is;
Savage model 10p
20" Heavy Barrel
Regular Stock (Not the Accustock)
Accutrigger
UTG Bipod
Falcon Menace 4-14 scope.

Reloader 15 in the 168 grain weight is magic. Recobs has some for sale right now. I have had great results with H335,BLC-2 and IMR8208 XBR, Varget. I would change the stock out to an HS Precision, or Bell and Carlson at least as the factory stocks bend a lot and can cut accuracys jugular vein so to speak.

R15 (between 43-44 grains should be a sweet spot) and 210 primers work great with 160 grainers.

PS: 4064 is also another good one.

Nice shooting. I'm using Varget right now and 175 Berger VLD'S. Thinking of trying Reloader 15, but the 175's shoot so well with the varget I don't know why I want to try something new.
