Can anyone tell me where I can source the fold down rear site and the correct front site for a 99C .
Thanks

Are you looking for a factory take-off or an aftermarket folder?

Would prefer factory. It is for the newer C with clip in 22 250. Looks like Midway would carry the fold down but the challenge would be the front removable ramp. Any body have one from a parts gun?

I see Lightfoot took care of you.

Yes thanks Mad Dog but while I have you on line and seeing as how we both pay taxes to the same country, what is the Cdn going price on a 22 250 in very nice condition less sights of course. I know you often say you don't like doing this but this is a "make an offer deal" and I really am clueless and don't want to blow the opportunity. If you care to offer your opinion a PM would be great.
Thanks
Jim

I know I wouldn't let mine out of the safe for anything under $750 if that helps any.

I've seen them draw $1200 back a few years ago but the prices have dropped of.

Thanks, I would be comfortable with that range but somehow I think the seller will be thinking more along the lines of the " a few years ago " price. That's usually the way with the guys who want you to make an offer rather than committing to a price.

Hard gun to find in that caliber up here, might not see another one for a couple years if you pass.

I know mine will ring the 2" gong at the 200 yd range all day long.

Still waiting on him to send me some better pics then I'll make an offer. The C's seem to have a weak finish on them, scratch easy. Is there anything that can be done short of removing the varnish and going with an oil finish? would that then destroy the value? Seems to me the value of a C would be based more on the caliber.

Yep, value of a post-mil 99 is in the caliber.

Your right about the finish, it flakes for some reason, not sure what could be done about it.

I've got another 99C here in 284 that the former owner had stripped and varnished it, now everytime I hunt it if it gets wet the varnish turns yellowish but dries normal again, needs to be treated with something better.

What I wouldn't give to find a 99 in .22-250 here in the states. Unfortunately I think there's 3-4 guys with more money than they know what to do with who have found and are hoarding them all. There's a fixer-upper on GunBroker right now that needs some small parts and the wood refinished, but I'm not willing to pay what he's wanting for a fixer-upper.

Maybe so. Same way I found my 110 PEL back in the day. Probably shouldn't have sold that one, but when someone offers you nearly 4x what you paid for it...well....kinda hard to say no. lol

Shoot me a PM once you blow the dust off it and know what you've got.
