I am looking to build a 300 Blackout. I found a used Savage Hog hunter in .308 and the price is pretty tempting.
My question is, how difficult is it to convert a .308 to a .223? Other than the barrel, what needs to be done? I have done a barrel swap before but have not worked with the bolt much.
Thanks!
It needs anew front baffle, new bolt head...
If it were me, I'd pass unless it was DIRT cheap. You can get a new one from BUD's in .223 for abut $430 shipped.

I'd go that route too, then it's only a matter of changing the barrel and setting the headspace.
hmmm.... I just checked...
Bud's .223 HH is now up to $460 shipped...
Cheaperthandirt raised their prices more than that a while ago. :(

Good point. The individual is trying to sell it to me for 400, I am offering 300. Could always make another 6.5 Creedmoor :)
