Savage 1899 forearm removal

I have a Savage 1899 Ser # 146xxx. The forearm does not have a tab, barrel band or screw. There is nothing I can see holding the forearm on. Any suggestions on how it is removed?

Are you sure someone didn't swap out the screw for a sling stud?

It's most likely a sling stud holding it on.

No sling stud, no screw, no tab. I tried to pull it straight off but is on there pretty solid.

Never in my life seen such an animal.

Can you post pics of it? Sounds like someone "made" a forearm and glued the thing on it.

Every 99 forearm has either a take down lever or a screw holding it onto the barrel.
