I finally got around to loading and shooting some .454 today. Well I loaded two mornings ago. First loading pistol and rifle is like apples and oranges both might be fruit but similarities stop there. I took my time reading the book over and over each step. but I finally got 10 rounds loaded with the min charge of H110. I took them out today and they worked great. Crimp on the Lee die is very nice. I put an round in next to the round being fired to measure creep no creep. Then I loaded a full cylinder and slowly fired each cylinder except the last. I unloaded and measured the last round and it also had no creep so I was happy. as far as accuracy I don't know I was test firing into the creek shooting at lilly pads from about 12 ft away (just a gues but its my guess). All rounds hit the pads were I was aiming so I assume they are going to fly pretty well when I get to the range.

I getting a Ruger Alaskan in 454 Casull, the one with the 2 inch barrel after reading this I can't wait, I had a Taurus Raging Bull in that caliber my go to load was 40gr+ of H110 with 240gr JHP's 2400fps +

240gr XTP Mag. 36gr on H110;) I'll start at the min Dean! But it felt good. I cannot imagine the kick on a 2"barrel. The Raging bull is very nice almost no muzzle rise being ported.

Holy short barreled cannon! I would love to pull the trigger on that thing a time or two! You need to video shooting it. I bet it has fireball and a half!

My Son had a 3inch mod 29 in 44mag and a couple of shots from that thing was enough for me. I had model 29's and Rugers for years. It was not fun any more.

For those asking about velocity loss with the 2.5" barrel, there is only a 200 to 300 fps loss over a 6" barrel depending on load, which would be a huge loss if you were shooting 45 ACP at 900 fps, not so much when you figure a typical Casull load is around 2000 FPS. All I can say is happy birthday to me.

That looks about right lololo.
When I shoot mine, you can see flames coming from everywhere. Its really neat to see the flames shoot thru the intergrated muzzle break at upward angels.
cool video!

I was able to get a 240gr Hornady XTP going 2400 fps with my 6" raging Bull, I am confident I will still be able to break 2000 fps with this one.

Unholy Mother of Flamethrowers! That is a bear gun and a half. You don't even need to hit him. He will be blinded from the flash and won't be able to smell right for a week!

You know you may be on to something, I think I may just run a max load and top it off with cream of wheat, and just Singe everything and not have to deal with recoil.LOL
