Went to the range to re sight my Tika 22-250 and load test a Savage 30-06 that I have a s a donor rifle. The 30-06 started out as a wood stocked 7 Mag and I put a 06 barrel and factory synthetic stock. While I was there I took my 7STW to shoot while the others cooled down. Verified sightin of 140 grn Bergers and 140 grn Accubonds (POI is 1/4" apart at 200), then shot a three shot group over the morning at 300 yards.

While there, shooter right down from me was shooting his build, he put together, 260 and found a load that was nearly shooting one hole at 200 yards. My STW is factory stock and is the most accurate gun I have so far. His had a Mcgowan barrel and new stock, but most bench rest guys would love his groups and that's from a hunting rifle. I know I love my groups. If I had a lighter trigger and could tune the other shooters out, I know my groups would be even better, but for a hunting rifle wow.

I am so totally right there with you. Here are groups I got recently on an exploratory outting w/ my Savage 110 that stated life as a 270 WCF but is now a 338-06 A-Square with an ER Shaw tube. I described the whole deal in a post a few days ago.

200 gr Speer Hot Cor, 53 gr RL-15, CCI-200, once-fired R-P 270 WCF brass sized through Hornady FLS die and annealed, once fired through the new tube, and run through Redding neck sizing die

215 gr Sierra GK, 57.5 gr BLC-(2), CCI-250, same brass as above, 4 fps spread on 2 shots which averaged 2683 fps

215 gr Sierra again, 55 gr IMR-4320, CCI-200, same brass, 3 fps spread on 2 shots which averaged 2632 fps

I love 'em. Nothing more satisfying than putting together your own rig and getting results like these!!
