So I bought my first Savage this weekend. After hours and hours debating between different models, this one offered the best long term value. Now it's time to buy optics! :)

Your membership to the "Brotherhood of the barrel nut" has obviously been approved. Just remember, "you can't just have one!!". :)

LMAO. Very true. My FCP-K is barely broken in (545 rounds down range in one month) and I'm already eyeballing the 10PC. Still hankering for an 11LRH in .308, too, though.

Once I grab some optics, it will be time to sight her in and enjoy some quiet time outside...except for the occassional *blam* followed by a crisp *ping* ;D

Oh...and I found out from a shooting buddy that a 1,000 yard range is opening up in our city in June!

Great, its a good thing. My club has the only long range in New Hampshire (600 yds) and we hold hi-power matches here. Take advantage of it when you can.

There's a range a couple hours north of us (in Texas, 2 hour drives are nothing) that holds Bug Out drills that test your shooting and survival skills and gear. They last all day and typically cover about 20 miles. The same range holds long range days that start you off at 150 and progressively move you to 1,000.

I'll take advantage of it like a frat boy with a freshman. :D

Got my 10 FCP ( .308 ) last year and have been at the range almost 3 times a month since then.
My budget for rifle and scope was $2000 so I put on a Konuspro M30 instead of a $1200 Leapold. Been shooting at up to 400 yards, at 200 and 300 most times. Our local range goes to 300 yards but my buddies ranchland goes out much further when I can get an invite to shoot there. Been very happy with the 10FCP.
Bet you will be too.

I have a Vortex 6-24x Crossfire on order from SWFA. Great price that I couldn't pass up! I'm hoping to make it up to Dallas and see the store so that I can put my hands on some of the Burris, Horus and Vortex scopes. Burris and Vortex have amazing warranties so I can't really go wrong with them.

I also just ordered a Storm data book to start tracking my shots.

Any thoughts for rings and mounts?
