Stevens 200 to dbm

So I have a Stevens 200 centerfeed .223 that I want to convert to a dbm and have found the bottom metal from a model 10 with 4.4 spacing. My question is since this model 10 has the bottom bolt release will the metal still work with my 200 with the top bolt release? What about the trigger guard? Do I order one from Boyd's along with a model 10 top bolt release dbm stock? Thanks

The metal DBM frame assembly (surround) you have will fit in any Savage SA, CF, DBM wood/laminated stock with top or bottom bolt release. However, the rear lip of the BBR metal frame assembly you have is cut thinner to accept the new style BBR trigger guard which has a thicker front lip. So you will need to order a metal BBR trigger guard and remove the BBR button if you use the frame assembly that you have now. That will leave you with a big hole in the front of the BBR trigger guard. If you would prefer to use an old style metal TBR trigger guard, then you should get the correct TBR frame assembly with the thicker rear lip. Or you could put several washers/spacer under the front lip of the old style trigger guard to raise it up so that it sets flush with the BBR metal DBM frame assembly that you already have.

I don't believe Boyd's sells the Savage bottom metal parts you need. To order these parts online, go to Savage Arms web page and look under the store and partfinder tabs. Use the SN listed below to open up schematics of the different Savage TBR or BBR rifle models with the metal trigger and DBM parts you need. Or call Savage Arms Parts and order with the help of a service rep.

Be sure your Stevens action is indeed a short action, I have read hat some years all Stevens actions were the same length

You can simply purchase the steel magazine bottom and install that on the mag well/follower that came with your rifle.
