Scope advise for small caliber

I have a heavy barreled 22-250. Single shot bedded in a laminate with a basix sav 2 trigger. Fine rig but not something tailored for long range work. Mostly inside of 300 yrds with the occasional try at a woodchuck to 500.

I need glass for this gun.. doesn't require the best, it is a light caliber. Magnification is nice because of generally small targets. Clarity is a must.

I've had luepold vortex and nikon in the past. All would do the job but I dont really want to dump $500 into this scope.

Im kicking around mueller nikon maybe fixed power swfa?

Whats your suggestions

I would probable look into the basic viper 6.5-20 around three bills or just drop a swfa on it...... good high magnification on the cheap is pretty tricky.

Primary Arms 4x14x44 FFP AT $230 is a steal. I have two on rifles and two more on the way. Read the reviews all over the web, it's hard to find a bad one.

Got it mounted. Glass appears good clicks a tad soft but good for the price point. Hope to put it to use tomorrow.

On a side note, scoped a midway usa flyer and saw the same scope badged bsa for $250

Marshall at Primary Arms has no problem sharing that the BSA and the Falcon Menace 4-14x44 FFP are the same scopes as his model, but he'll also point out that he traveled to several factories to seek out the highest quality components and glass. Yes they look the same, but the internals are built to his higher standards.

Zero'd it today. It was 11 degrees out and the adjustments didnt take without some tapping on the rings and turrets but glass looked good. I had to adjust the objective to 150 yrds shooting 100 yrds to get it in focus but thats not a deal breaker.

I wish I was, but, no. I did a lot of research before I bought my first one, including a 30+ message email string with Marshall at PA. He convinced me to try it and offered to buy it back if I wasn't happy with it. Having nothing to lose, I tried it. Then I bought another. And then last week, two more. Marshall racked up a lot of miles visiting factories overseas and made his choices based on quality of components, and the scopes are made to his specifications. Yes, there are a couple of identical looking scopes on the market, but his specifications place his model above the others. I won't recommend them for chamberings above .308 Winchester, only because Marshall advises against it. I have no proof that they wouldn't hold up to 30/'06 class recoil, I have other scopes for those.

For that price class I think I would recommend this scope as well.


Honestly on havent hopped on the ffp band wagon. I like fine crosshairs when shooting long range. Seems like everyone is a wanna be sniper these days

Yeah, I think that has to do with the notoriety and popularity of a certain fellow's book and movie. Think his name was Chris something...Kyle maybe? ;)
