How difficult is it to remove a factory installed barrel? Will I need a 6 foot breaker bar on the nut wrench? Thanks in advance.

I have never needed more than a nut wrench and a 2 lb shop hammer,a couple of taps and the nut comes off.

An action wrench helps alot

I keep my tools pretty basic. I use a 24in breaker bar, with the action locked into an action wrench. once the nut comes loose, I loosen the action wrench and spin the barrel right off. Key point here "loosen the action wrench" other wise the pressure it applies will not let you unscrew the barrel. After a number of barrel swaps I can get it done in 10-15min depending on how fast I'm moving. First one took me an afternoon though! Just take your time.

I have a set of oak blocks that I drilled and then split, then took a rasp end fitted the grooves in the blocks to fit the barrels I use most.Use a large vise and the blocks for a barrel vise,I have only one nut I had trouble with but some brown sugar on the barrel locked it down tight.

Appropriate go gauge, 1/2" of scotch tape, Barrel wrench, action wrench, rubber mallet.
10-15 minutes or less.
