I bought another Savage, the Cabela's Model II prairie dog in .223

Im looking at replacing the plastic stock with a Boyds laminate unit and was wondering how I select the correct one.

If I select short action, center feed blind mag BULL barrel I get pro varmint or pro varmint thumbhole, if factory bbl a whole lot more options are available.

Mine has a heavy barrel (about the same as hog hunter but 22" long, no sights) but not quite a "bull" barrel imo. (savage says BBL 223-5.56 TARGET/22 PREDATOR)

Would I need to select BULL from boyds or would another "factory" profile fit (lots of savage has thick factory profile bbls)?

I will reply to your first post, with MY first post....:)

I have read other threads on here where the "factory" contour requires some work with a sandpaper wrapped dowel or long socket.

Here is a thread that should help.

I have a Hog Hunter .223. I just ordered a Boyds Pro Varmint Thumbhole for "bull" barrel. I have not received it yet, so we shall see....:smug:
