I'm building my wife a 7mm-08 for deer hunting. My wife will most often shoot under 200 yards but we do have a 400 yard field so a far shot might happen. I was thinking bullets in the 140 grain arena...maybe nosler ballistic tips or accubonds? Anyways I was hoping there would be people who could offer loads that worked for them...which powders should I test and with which bullets. Thanks everyone!

My 15yr old daughter shoots a 7-08 and I loaded up some 120gr Hornady soft points and 45gr of blc2. She shoots about .75-1.00" at 100yds and handles the recoil really well

Copy the Hornady American Whitetail 140 grain ammo. I have several loads using R15 R17 and H 4350. The Hornady stuff runs right with them.

I've been working up loads for a Savage factory 22" sporter barrel with 9.5 twist. I started with factory Hornady American Whitetail 139 gr SP in order to get 7mm-08 brass which has been hard to find. They shot fine for factory loads and should be good for deer size game. I've had best luck reloading with RL15 vs RL17, H4350 and H380. So far 120 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips, 139 gr Hornady SST's and 150 gr Accubond LR bullets all like RL15 the best and provide 0.6" to 0.9" groups with 3 shots @100 yd.

I've had great luck in my wife's 7-08 with Win brass and LR primers, 140gr TSX over 48gr of W760 for 2940fps seated .050 off the lands as recommended by Barnes. These shoot under 1/2 MOA when we do our part. Start low and work up :)
