A question for the really smart guys:

Are the target actions used in the 10BA and 12LRP made from chrome moly or stainless?
If they are both chrome moly, these would be different from all other target actions. I know they are somewhat different in that they have open bottoms to allow for magazine use, rather than the solid bottom seen on the Palma, LRPV, etc.
The barrels on both models are listed as carbon steel with "black" finish. The Savage website doesn't actually say which steel is used on the receivers.
It doesn't really matter, since I coat blued receivers to improve durability, reduce rust vulnerablity, etc. I'm more curious than anything else.

Thanks.

A nice lady at Savage Customer Service answered the question today for me.
Evidently, the 12LRP is built from chrome moly steel. It is then blued.
I thought that was somewhat odd since Savage target receivers used in both Palma and LRPV are stainless.
But, that's their story.

The 10 BA and LRP are not considered "target" actions, they are small port repeaters. Only the single shot versions are considered target actions.

Thanks.
Are they large or small shank?

Not all single shots ard target actions either correct?

If I understand correctly target actions use three screws. My single shot only uses two and is round back

This is correct. There are some single-shot non-target actions, such as the 12VLP-SS. The one I have is a stainless small shank, and if I remember correctly it uses the 1 1/2# Accutrigger. It is a two- screw 4.4" action.
